Dr. Christian May, Head of Business Unit Flexible Organic Electronics, was born 1967, and studied Physical Metallurgy at Freiberg University of Mining and Technology. He received his PhD from same university in 1999. From 1997 he was with a vacuum coating system supplier as project manager dealing with large area thin film deposition. Since 2003 he is with Fraunhofer. First he was responsible for the development of fabrication technologies for large area OLED lighting and organic solar cells. His current position is Division Director “Flexible Organic Electronics” within Fraunhofer FEP – the Fraunhofer Institute for Organic Electronics, Electron Beam and Plasma Technology. Christian May was active within the EU funded projects OLLA, OLED100.eu, FLAME, TREASORES and LightJumps. Furthermore he was the coordinator of the German funded project R2D2 which was finished successfully end of 2015. Currently he is involved in the Internal Advisory Board of the EU project PI-Scale targeting an open access pilot line service for flexible OLED. Dr. May is the spokesman of the OE-A (Organic and Printed Electronics Association) roadmap team Lighting.
